Dominique Morefield

Community Engagement Specialist

Counties: Vigo, Knox

experience

Born and raised in Vigo County, Dominique Morefield is passionate about serving her community and providing resources to traditionally underserved youth. As a young adult, she spent time in the Washington, D.C. area working as a nanny to a child with special needs. Inspired by the social justice activists she witnessed in our nation’s capital combined with her first experience working with children, Dominique has since spent most of her adult life making a concerted effort to be an advocate for marginalized individuals. She has gained invaluable experience as a community organizer who shed light on systemic oppression.

Professionally, Dominique has spent years working in the behavioral health field with at-risk youth. As direct care personnel at an in-patient behavioral health center, she found that she loved running mental health groups on the adolescent unit. That propelled her career forward as she began working for a behavioral health nonprofit, facilitating social-emotional learning programs in the classroom. After advancing to an Outreach Mentor position, Dominique seized the opportunity to work with children and their families on a more personal level. Most recently, she served as the Behavior Interventionist for a local middle school and found pride in her office being a safe space for students to explore the root causes of negative behaviors.

As a Community Engagement Specialist at Girl Coalition of Indiana, Dominique Morefield serves communities throughout Vigo and Knox Counties with the hope to create programs for girls like her who didn’t have the resources to join Girl Scouts.
