Grants Funded by Girl Co.

1. Save Our Sports – Hamilton and Howard County

High School girls completed the Officiating 101 course designed to help them learn to be sports officials.  They were paired with women mentors that provided coaching and feedback during practices, scrimmages, and games where the girls received live experience and on-site evaluation.

2. Sneaker Ball – Allen County

Ft. Wayne Community Schools hosted a father/daughter Sneaker Ball where fathers (or a positive male figure) and daughters attended an informal dance wearing sneakers.  Girls got to spend quality time with their positive male figure by dancing, enjoying refreshments and taking pictures.

3. Bridge of Grace – Leadership Summit – Allen County

Bridge of Grace hosted a two-day Leadership Summit for ten girls ages 11-15. The Summit hosted strong women in the community, as speakers, to discuss and engage the girls in activities focused on girls’ relationships, skills, thoughts and problem-solving skills. The girls created their own Identity Blueprint, a powerful tool for them to reference in the future.

4. Bloom Within – Marion County

Girls between the ages of 8 and 12 met for four consecutive Saturdays to learn gardening skills, tend a community garden and learn about the importance of healthy eating.  The girls enjoyed lunch together and took notes in their Bloom Within journals.  Upon completion of the four-week workshop they took home their own garden box including a starter vegetable plant, flower seeds and gardening tools to test their skills at home.

5. Welcome Baskets, Inc. – College Visit

Welcome Baskets, Inc. hosted a college visit to Indiana University Indianapolis for high school aged refugee girls and their families. The visit included a campus tour, admissions presentation, student panel, lunch and transportation. The girls and families completed a BINGO card during the visit, looking for various things and landmarks on campus.
